Metacognitive Analysis

The world is ever changing. Things such as Technological advancements are being made, cures for diseases are being found, and the way education is being taught is changing are all examples of this surge forward into the new age. When we were in high school the thoughts we had about college is that it’s going to be very hard and that we are going to have to write hundred page papers for English. In some cases this is true, there are college students who have to write hundred page papers weekly. But what they did not tell us is that college will introduce us to a whole to world and a whole new way of learning.
This semester in English it was exactly that. No longer were we writing essays upon essays, word after word, and page by page. It’s a progressing world and it is only right to move with it. In this time we live in many people hardly spend any time reading books or getting their news from the paper. Yes, that is still possible and people still do but this is the twenty first century and people have advanced to reading off of blogs and forums and finding their news on the web. For our final project in English 114 with Sean Pessin we were assigned to create blogs about a topic we feel strongly about. For me my blog consisted of things to improve the way of life and giving my audience advice on living life to the fullest.
As I did at the beginning of this assignment I asked myself what is a blog. So I did my research and found out that it is a simple website where a person or a group of people post writings, pictures, videos, and opinions on a specific topic. I named my blog “Carpe Diem” which stands for seize the day and for a month or so I wrote about living life to the fullest and the ability to grab life by the horns. I enjoyed creating post for my blog because it was easy and it was a topic I believe in and love to talk about. Blogs do not only consist of articles filled with writing they also have videos and pictures. I did just that; I posted pictures and videos and usually accompanied all three in a post at times.
I enjoyed creating this blog because it moved away from the normal five page papers that limit you to the one inch margins, twelve point font, and times new roman. Creating blogs also allowed us to view other people’s works and what they put up. Not only did I enjoy creating mine, I also liked reading many of my fellow classmates work. The diversity in the topics of the blogs really made it interesting. One day I could read up on Pandas and cars the next I’m engaged in an article about Greek life.
These blogs opened up my mind to the electronic workspace of English. Literature and writing is no longer confined to pen and paper. The world is moving forward and I expect to see more and more blogs being made. This was an excellent way to engage students in a topic. It was also more pleasing to read off of the creative websites rather then the normal boredom of reading five page essays.

Hybrid Essay

This semester in English we were no longer working with pen and paper. The world is technologically advancing and so should education. No longer were we writing essays upon essays, word after word, and page by page. It’s a progressing world and it is only right to move with it. In this time we live in many people hardly spend hours reading books or getting their news from the paper. Yes, that is still possible and people still do. This is the twenty first century and people have advanced to reading off of blogs and forums and finding their news on the web. This semester I am bringing to my audience a kick to life. This blog is about the hardships in life and ways to get through them. It doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is that you get up every time.
Instead of writing papers, we created blogs. For me I introduce to my audience the idea of living life to the fullest. I named my blog “Carpe Diem” which stands for seize the day. We go to bed every night hoping to wake up the next day and we close our eyes not knowing if we will. So I say seize the day because it is another day you are given. I wrote about this topic because I believe in it and strive to live by it. In this time we live in a society lives day to day. Just going through everyday the same as the one before. Through these post you will see basic things to give your day and your life a little sprinkle of good. I introduce the idea of grabbing life by the horns and living up to its full potential. I showed you individuals who have accepted death and find ways to live cheating Jack the ripper. I showed the audience that simple things such as living an active life can make it easier and stress free. There are plenty of things from jumping out of an airplane to taking a walk around the block just to increase the levels of enjoyment in life and to decrease those things that can hinder and put a burden on yourself.

If you died tomorrow would you be content with the life you lived?

Would you be able to accept death without regrets?

Did you do the things you wanted to do?

And Finally, Did you accomplish what you wanted to do before you died?

As your Writer, Speaker, and Life Coach. I would like to make an Example of Myself!

I wake up everyday thankful that I am given another!
 - As for all students this isn't easy. For me at least every morning starts with the beeping of my alarm at 5:20. I get up and change into my Army PT gear and head out for an hour of exercise everyday.

I am grateful to have been given this life.
- For the most part, all of us were conceived on accident. I could guarantee 100% that my mother was not expecting to have a child at her age.

Thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given!
-I wasn't born a US Citizen, and the opportunity to become a citizen and move to this country and live the life I currently have is a blessing.

I am happy to say that I am 19 Years Old and have been to more places then most people would before they reach the age of 30.
-We live in a large but small world. We should take the chance to see what else lies beyond these borders of the United States.

I worked hard to give back what I was given!
-The chance to go to an International school for free and now college to be paid for in full, is something I could never pay back but I sure will try.

The United States has provided so much for me, so it is only right for me to pay them back as I am contracted as a US Army ROTC Cadet who will be commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant upon completion of my degree in 2016.
-This is one of the most basic ways I could do to give back all I was ever given.

So for the past couple months I have reiterated over and over again the fact that life is too short, to live life to the fullest, and that life is hard. Through this blog I hoped to have been able to show you ways to improve life overall. I tried to post a lot of different types of things you can do to make that possible.

I would like for all my readers to take away from this, is that life is an unexpected journey that can end at anytime. So ensure that you live life with no regrets and don't hold back.

Religions!

Believing in something and living by it. Can be one of the most influential and motivational things to living life. For most of the population in the United States they are member of church, synagogue, temple, or mosque. As I like to reiterate to everyone life is hard! It gets to the best and worst of people.

Having a religion or believing in something allows people to look up to something or explain something to them. Were going to have tough times throughout our short lives and believing in a higher being or even believing in science for some people can help.

Live Life To The Fullest!

Thats something I've said on here plenty of times. Many people don't grow up with a religion or a belief. So for some they join a religion later in their lives and they feel like they have filled a void inside themselves. I am a Catholic, and believe in God 100%. I've been baptized and confirmed, God is a big part of my family and my life. But just because I am catholic doesn't mean I refuse or deny the beliefs of other religions. Today I read a little on Buddhism and it gave me a little more understanding to life. My life as a catholic is great but after reading little on another religion it made me understand my religion better and my life overall better.

I've preached plenty of different physical things about enhancing your life! This shows you that its not just about doing crazy things like jumping out of airplane for example to enjoy life. This is a simple example of filling a void and giving our short lives a simple boost!

Carpe Diem!

A Little Reading For the Mind, Body, and Soul!

For my Humanities class I recently read Siddhartha. Great Book and relates to a lot of things I post on here.

One of those lessons is Wisdom Through Experience

Something that I was always told and truly believe in is that you learn from mistakes and how would you know if you’ve never tried it. In Siddhartha, Govinda and Siddhartha are pursuing Nirvana, the answer to life and the purification of mind, body, and soul. Through their journey they pursue many experiences and religions to find Nirvana. Govinda moves from Brahmin and stays with the lessons and teachings of Buddhism to find his answer, while Siddhartha takes a different route and goes around exploring different religions and experiences to find his answer. Like the characters in this book we follow and believe things to gain the experience and wisdom.

Like I always say in my post life is hard. And if they gave us the answer to life right off the bat, then why would we need to live. Life is a journey of everyday experiences that are set for a reason we face different things everyday and for the most of us we learn for every experience. Another way to improve your way of life is to gain knowledge. For me personally I get excited every time I learn something new. That’s part of living life to the fullest. I would be very happy to die knowing everything, but we all know that’s not possible. So we go through days, weeks, years, decades and hopefully a century maturing, learning, and becoming closer and closer to finding that answer to life.

For me I participated in many actives and to pursue something new. During high school I played football, baseball, and was on the Marksmanship (shooting) team. All these different sports and teams throughout the years have taught me several lessons. During football and baseball I learn the simplest lesson you’ll learn in life, and that is Hard work pays off. During another year I learn that adversity can be beat and any obstacle to come your way can be torn down and pushed through. I believe that High School sports teaches a lot of things to young men and women that they can carry on forever. During marksmanship it was patience. Patience is one of the hardest things to grasp. A lot of people want to always get up and move. Yes, it is great to always be 100% or even 120% when we do things but it does not mean we have to be going 100 mph at it. Success can also come to those who wait.

Now that I am in college I am always looking to try something new. This time of our lives is one of the greatest experiences that not so many people get to have. So I’m taking it in full strides and I would like for all my readers who are in college to do so also. This time only last for 4 years, 8 semesters to be exact for some. To give you a little realization most of us only have 6 semesters left of college. So if you haven’t already, get out there enjoy this time and learn. Not only are we here to gain a degree and the knowledge for the future. But we are here to for the experiences, simple lessons of life, and to make mistakes, which are okay and totally acceptable. Our Lives are going to be hard. Understanding that now will only benefit you and make the rest of our lives a bit easier and more enjoyable. Learn as much as you can, take those experiences and learn from them. These lessons can range from being simple to complex.

This is the simplest way to achieve happiness and live your life to the fullest.

Wisdom is learning from all the experiences we go through in life. That’s why they say the old are the wise!

Life is too short! So Go Out There and Start Living!
